Today is the International Women’s Day, also known as the United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace, dedicated to women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. In some countries it is also Mother’s Day. So this post is about a series of 5 paintings I made dedicated to femininity and rights, the right to Eudaimonia.

Rullion is back with a vengeance
When I was a child, the beginning of March was always a magical and highly expected time of the year, partly because I never liked January and February. After the euphoria of December, they seemed to me like a perpetual Monday. Self Portrait with Frida Kahlo
I made this painting last year as a birthday gift to FriDad, it’s a different kind of self portrait. I think real self portraits are for interesting people like Frida Kahlo ,for example, and I thought it would be more fun to paint the unseen rather than the figure.
Extended Tribe – Family Portrait
This is a painting I made as a gift for my sister. She took a weekend break to spend time with the tribe and brought me a pair of quad roller skates (because why wouldn’t you buy your uncoordinated sister who can’t skate a pair of roller skates 🙂 ) which FriBoy loved so much that he drew himself skating with his aunt.
Luge – Sledge Track in Basse Ville
Sunday we went sledding on the Barry Brust track in Basse Ville Fribourg, which was a first for us. FriBoy loved it and I hope it will become a tradition.
Artsy Wednesdays – Painting with Chemical Reactions
Today for our Artsy Wednesdays we tried another art and science experiment, a colorful acid-base chemical reaction painting.
Artsy Wednesdays – Animal Trace Fossils
I was clueless this morning what to do for a creative activity but when desperate, clay is always a good idea.
The Communications Museum in Bern
The Communications Museum in Bern had a makeover recently and is probably the best educational experience we’ve had in a museum. To me it’s proof of how much museography has evolved and how by embracing digital era technologies museums can become learning hubs for both adults and kids.
