Last year the Romanian Embassy invited me to exhibit my woodwork at their HQ for the International Day of the Romanian Blouse, celebrated on the 24th of June. The space was limited to a small table which was a challenge for me, because I had no clue how to squeeze cultural identity in 1 m, without making it look and feel stereotypical and idealized to the audience.
Kūčios – An ancient Lithuanian Christmas Tradition
One of the things I am grateful for this year is visiting Lithuania. We did it on a whim after I read Marija Gimbutas’s biography, she is a renowned Lithuanian archaeologist who loved her origins so much that I wanted to go there and see for myself what she was talking about.
The Sensler Museum in Tafers
Friday was a bank holiday in the canton of Fribourg and we took this opportunity to visit a museum that had interested me for quite some time but didn’t get the chance to see until now because it’s open only for 3 hours a day, between 14:00 – 17:00.
