Today for #ArtsyWednesdays we made clay decorations.
Artsy Wednesdays – Cardboard track game
Today instead of art we did an easy STEM project…easy to build but not as easy to imagine and also to design the trajectory for the small wooden balls so they fill each of the plastic cups at the bottom of the board.
Artsy Wednesdays – Mole Stuffed Toy
FriBoy doesn’t have school on Wednesdays, instead he has #ArtsyWednesdays with me. We always do arts and crafts on Wednesdays, it’s almost like a ritual.
Artsy Wednesdays – La Nuit des Mayas
Sometimes I find it frustrating that Lausanne, Geneva or Zürich have more to offer to children from the cultural point of view than Fribourg, especially on Wednesdays when I am out of ideas what to do with FriBoy. The good part is that in Switzerland these distances can be easily covered.
Cooking with FriBoy – Halloween Cheese Cookies
Cooking has been one of my favorite activities with FriBoy since he was a baby. I’d carry him in the baby sling while I cooked and when he was old enough he became more involved in our kitchen activities, usually making a mess.
Rhino Star – The Museum of Natural History
As much as I love art, I wish I could say the coolest museum in Fribourg is the Art and History one, but it’s actually not. The Natural History Museum is the cultural institution by far the most alive and in tune with its public, especially the young public. Which is rather ironic for a place exhibiting dead animals but this means it is a real dynamic learning hub.
Handmade Stuffed Toy
Making his own stuffed toys is a great way to teach a boy about engineering, design, planning and sequencing, problem solving, the value of one’s own effort, while developing creativity and patience…even if this means putting a needle in his hands.
Artsy Wednesdays – Woodcut Dragonfly
We did this project upon FriBoy’s request. He drew a dragonfly and asked FriDad to help him cut it in wood.
