I made this painting after I finished a bogolan cloth workshop with Burkina Fasso artist Momoudou Bolly.

I actually gave it to him as a gift of gratitude for sharing his craftsmanship so passionately. In my native culture material gift giving/receiving is very important, but to me there is not grater gift than knowledge.

So this painting is about a certain curly haired boy who becomes friend with an antelope and decides to visit its home in Burkina Faso. This work actually inspired me to continue the series of quests of the curly haired boy.

Journey to Burkina Fasso

I ended up making two of these paintings because I liked it too much. The second one is slightly different, no 2 paintings can be exactly the same.
