The portrait of my maternal grandmother and the 3rd painting in my Inspiring Women series was the most difficult one to paint. She was younger here than when I knew her, this is why I found it so hard to capture her soulful and gentle of her face. But I had to do it because I am so grateful to her for teaching me to be human and giving me hope in humanity in spite of the difficult times and place where I was brought up.
It is a mixed media portrait, embroidery and oil in canvas. I changed the colors “100 times” before settling on green. After I finished it I actually found out it was her favorite.
The most amazing thing about her was her power to forgive. I hope I have that too.
